After replacing the 2x4 decking on our big uapo, I realized that most of the lumber could be salvaged, edge-trimmed, and re-used to sheath the aluminum "table top" that serves as the aux. bridge to the hau-side loʻi. I built a frame at home, trucked it to Ulupō, and (with Kaleoʻs help) assembled the new-old bridge in a couple of afternoons. All that remains is to seal its raw edges and dig it down a bit so that the wheelbarrows can cross over without bumping. Cost: under $20. – Kihei de Silva Wahi a Kaleomanuʻiwa: "Ka hiapo a me ka pōkiʻi, ʻo Hāloanakalaukapalili a ʻo Hāloa. Pono kekahi i kekahi." The two Hāloa, the first-born and the beloved younger sibling, each in pono with the other. -KdS
