Here are a few photos from the past few days:
1- Kāloakūkahi (today). Planted huli in a few places, both māla and loʻi.
2 and 3- ‘Olepau (yesterday). Kohina Perry of the Mālama Honua charter school harvested kalo for her class.
4- ʻOlekūlua (day before yesterday). Sunset behind Lanihuli and Konahuanui.
Notes from today:
Checked the ʻuala we planted in the mahina of Hilinaehu, the varieties PāʻūoHiʻiaka, Kāneʻohe ʻUlaʻula, and Kāneʻohe Keʻokeʻo have not yet produced hua. The Kala variety has small hua. We were expecting a relatively quick turn around from time to planting to time to harvest because the area they are planted is always wet. Kū nō ka nono ma laila, the water oozes out of the ground just up slope of these ʻuala beds. We will check them again in the mahina of Nana.
ʻAlae ʻula still present in the pond, they appear to be nesting in the grass.
