Eia Hawai‘i, he Moku, he Kanaka

4/24/2017

So privileged to have been a part of the ceremony to welcome Hōkūleʻa and Hikianalia back to Tahiti. Mahalo nui to PVS for inviting me to serve in this role again. And mahalo hoʻi to my kumu & hula sisters for understanding my need to hoʻokō this kuleana even though it meant I had to be away and unable to help in Hilo this year. I thought of you folks often and even though we were a part, I love that we were all working at the same time at different piko to represent our kumu, our kūpuna, our ʻāina, and our lāhui and to try and create sacred, sovereign spaces through hula and the coming together of ʻŌiwi. Pōmaikaʻi maoli nō kēia!
